 agility.jpg

In all of the years, all of the dogs that I have shared my life with, never have I had such a lazy pack. Like you and I, our furry friends need daily exercise. I do my best to make sure that this pack gets what they need….each dog has their own fun little games they enjoy playing (even if only for short durations). Gemma….loves to chase the dogs, if forced to….a Frisbee will do but only a couple of throws. She gets bored easily along with the fact she does not like the heat. Niki….LOVES kick ball. Rocky….he will chase a tennis ball….stickagility2.jpg….gets bored easily so for all of them they get several play times a day….pretty darn spoiled 😉 Now that the cooler weather is here I have started making use of the agility equipment. We will do this several times a week….great exercise for the dog and great team work and training for both you and dog. Niki loves the weave poles, even when she was in her big wheels I had her do some agility….now although still a bit wobbly in the back end we do it and I must say she is the fastest out of the three….yep, the disabled dog does the weaves the best!

It sounds like alot of time and work…nope, just a half an hour to hour throughout the day is all that is needed. Walks are another way to bond and spend some quality time with your furry friends.  So….if it has been a while since spending some time with your furry friend….go for a nice walk, take an agility class or obedience class if not yet trained). Their lives are so short….make every second count and keep them as healthy as you can by doing something with your dog on a daily basis. This is my pack after some exercise & fun…

I get several e-mails a day from individuals inquiring  how to capture images of pets. It really is pretty easy….the number one ingredient of course is knowing how to use your camera….photographing during the right time of day…..which usually is morning, late afternoon. Having a squeak toy or two….a few very tasty treats and then hanging out with your favorite furry friend and just having some fun. Pay attention to your lighting….and never be afraid to get down to your pets level. I have been known to crawl around when need be. Make your images fun by trying new and fun things….try not to always place your pet in the center of the image….get close…think body parts….paws, nose, eyes. , tail.

naptime.jpgAnother of those moments….working at the PC and looked down to my left…Niki’s spot and there sharing her bed is Rocky 😉 Made me smile and think of Phoenix!                                                                                                                                                                    This was a wonderful moment for Niki needs a Golden to snuggle with (one day I will share how Niki made her way to us….pretty amazing). While the photo is not the best….they were actually sound a sleep but my creeping around trying to “not” make a sound….well, graceful I am not. Add to the fact my office….very small, paintings are everywhere along with the fact I am SO unorganized….well they woke up and just watched me no doubt thinking why am I always pointing that camera at them…then wondering if there were any treats in it for them.

Here comes the Photography Tip for the day: There will be those times when all will not be perfect…lighting as in my image, wil not allow many choices, add to that….I cannot hand hold a camera in low light situations…..so you find something, anything to brace yourself against….hold your breath and go for it. Memories are wonderful…as I have mentioned sooo many times when you have an image to go with that memory….perfect! Make Use your camera 😉

This morning found the pack and I strolling around….taking in the sights sounds and smells 😉 Camera in hand, dogs following we walked around, taking our time…and there….a couple buds found just waiting for us to notice them. Could not resist a few photo’s….then as I so often do could not help but look to the dogs. They are so sweet, happy…just lovely, so they too were photographed.

Niki doing her water therapy…she does several circles, then we make her sit several times along with balancing exercises. Rocky, well maybe one day he will be a water dog, Gemma just watches from the sidelines.

Finally…

hibc.jpgYes, it is true….Good things do come to those who wait!

Due to the crazy weather we had a frost just when the wild Hibiscus plant had buds on it…they shriveled up and fell off. I thought that was it until next year. Get home early from Jury Duty and I was so surprised to see one flower, along with numerous buds.

hiba.jpgOnly way to get to it was to sneak onto the neighbors property, armed with my camera. …no doubt this will also appear as a painting some day soon.  Oh….jury duty is just as I suspected it would be…Boring.

The pups are doing a little better Phoenix’s death.  They are starting to play and have a little fun…although I have to “work” them a bit. We have been playing the trick & treat game…something so silly has bee so helpful. Poor Niki, I watched her two nights ago look for Phoenix. She is getting a little more independent, although if Rocky could stay still I think they will learn to have a wonderful relationship.

Still…we miss Phoenix.

I have a very difficult phoeniedeetee.jpgtime getting myself focused on Mondays. I wander aimlessly around thinking of all the things I need to do, but never addressing them. Due to this Monday has become my “official” day off. This morning found me hanging out with the “pack”…we wandered the yard….taking in all the sights, sounds and smells 🙂 Due to the storms that came through the ground is still wet, several trees down behind the house. As I often do….camera in hand. Noticed Phoenix and Niki taking a break….she just has to place her tiny 20 lb frame next to his…they are too cute together. Also….the lone flower after the storm….the last of the buds has bloomed. Lastly, I did a bit of sketching. An update of the self portrait of Phoenix & flowera.jpgmyself.nikphoe.jpg
