4th of July is this Wed. and among your plans of fun, sun family, friends, BBQ’s and Fireworks I would like to remind everyone of a few safety tips for your beloved furry friends. Many of our furry friends do not do very well with the festivities of the 4th. Due to the noise, and lights of fireworks I have seen pets dig under fences, scale fences, or even run out an open door due to quests coming in and out of one’s home. Before you say not my pet….please know that noise phobia can occur at ant time….safety is the only way to prevent an accident. So Please make sure your pet has up to date ID tags….still time to get this done. Keep your furry friends indoors. If hosting a party with several guests…may be better to keep your furry friend enclosed in an area of the home where they cannot be accidentally allowed to roam the streets. While there is never a good time for your furry friends to be roaming the streets, during the summer time there are so many dangers. Lastly, if heading out to watch a fireworks display, leave your pets in the comfort of his/her home (inside). If you dog suffers from noise phobia to the degree of panic…please discuss this with your vet. for there are drugs that can help to relieve the stress…Of course anytime your pet is taking such medications they should be supervised. Lastly…food safety. If your pet is a known counter surfer (steals food) please be mindful of safety, especially if hosting a party. All cooked bones are a big No-No and this type of accidents can be easily avoided if you just keep your furry friend in a safe environment.
Happy and Safe 4th of July 😉
